Noosa Food and Wine Festival – A Wave of Flavour
For the socialites of the Sunshine Coast, there is one food and wine festival that takes precedence over all others, the Noosa Food and Wine Festival. This year, from May 20th, to the 22nd, Noosa will play host to a swathe of events to tickle your food and wine loving taste buds. For a full description of each event, and to book your tickets, see the Noosa Food and Wine Festival website.
Following are some of my favourites available this year.
Are you a fan of My Kitchen Rules? If so this event may be a dream come true for every devoted fan. Join celebrity chef and author Pete Evans for an intimate conversation about ‘The Paleo Way’ in Noosa’s The J Theatre. Enjoy a light bite and a welcome drink followed by a presentation from Pete on the Paleo Way and finish with a Q&A session. Guests will also receive Pete’s 10 week activation program, The Paleo Way, valued at $99 included in the ticket price, which will be activated post event’. A love of unique experiences with food and wine is all you need to join us for this bespoke and seriously fun 9 hole Ambrose event. You will be tempted onto each green with 4 individually themed food holes and 5 beverage stations showcasing fantastic wines and craft beers. Wind down for the presentations with a 1 hour drinks package and canapes in the magnificent Sunset Lounge overlooking the beautiful Noosa Springs & hinterland. 1pm Shotgun Start’. For those after something with a different flavour, the Rococo Noosa has teamed up with MoVida Melbourne to recreate El Chiringuito, the soul of the beach. ‘A True Spanish Fiesta! Frank Camorra brings his deliciously authentic and highly acclaimed Spanish flavours to Noosa for this one-off opportunity to experience a Noosa Main Beach Fiesta of grand proportions. Enjoy tapas, music, wine, parilla, paella, song and dance brought to life by Estrella Damm, Barcelona. Limited tickets are an all inclusive price of $165. Please note this event is open to those 18 years and over’. For more information for this taste bud experience see the El Chiringuito Fiesta de Espana event page.
Earlier this year, Fiji was struck by a devastating natural disaster in the form of Cyclone Winston. For Chef Peter Kuruvita, this hit all too close to home, with his culinary presences extending beyond Noosa Beach House to the shores of Fiji with Flying Fish restaurant located on Denarau Island. ‘He has seen firsthand the devastation that Cyclone Winston had on the lovely Fijian people. Please join us for a night of fantastic food and wonderful wines in support of our neighbours in Fiji. Proceeds from the evening will be donated to support the families affected by the cyclone. Champagne on arrival and wines sponsored by Mandala Wines, with the head of winemaking, Charles Smedley, hosting the event alongside Chef Peter Kuruvita. For more information on this relief effort, visit the Fiji Disaster Relief Charity Dinner event page.
