There truly isn’t any other time of the year that captures the hearts and minds of people around the world quite like Christmas. its origins are varied, seemingly a combination of different culture’s celebrations of the middle and end of Winter in Europe – or, depending on your beliefs, marks the birth of the Christian Lord Jesus, and is a celebration of his birth, marked by the giving of gifts as the wise men once did.
Whether you’re celebrating the birth of Christ or the Winter Solstice, chances are your idea of Christmas looked pretty much the same. Growing up, even in sweltering Australian summers, Christmas time and its sense of magic and wonder consumed me. I dreamt of snow-covered rooftops, crackling fireplaces, big and colourful Christmas trees, and of course, presents from Santa’s sleigh. Unfortunately in Australia snow is hard to come by at the best of times, let alone smack bang in the middle of our summers – but luckily the magic of the North Pole isn’t so far away.
This silly season Aussie World is once again bringing a little slice of Santa’s workshop to the Sunshine Coast on December 22 from 5pm. Complete with snow, amazing pyrotechnic and laser displays, roving carollers, fireworks and of course – the big red man himself, and his little old lady – Aussie World really have captured Christmas in a bottle for us all to enjoy. Bring along the whole family to experience the winter wonderland, enjoy some rides and an incredible day out complete with a great Christmas Show. Kids under 3 get in free, with pricing packages for families beginning at $110 for a family of four – Not bad for a day out at an amusement park complete with Santa’s Workshop.
