Boogie in the Bush – Mitchell Creek Rock’n’Blues Fest

The Mitchell Creek Rock’n’Blues Festival returns once again this year, from the 15th till the 18th of September, and the line up is nothing short of historic.

This premier music festival is hosted on 100 acres of private property in the Noosa Hinterland’s breathtaking Mary Valley region, right here on the Sunshine Coast. With some 150+ artists on offer this year, with two nonstop, alternating stages this is an experience not to be missed for the true Rock, Blues, and Roots music fans amongst us. In addition to the fantastic line up of talented artists this year, there is set to be an incredible offering of a multi-cultural festival feast to keep you fuelled up and ready to rock.

This year, the festival is to be headlined by four icons of Aussie Rock and Blues – Chain, The Foreday Riders, Cyril B Bunter Band, and Bondi Cigars, all boasting continuous careers stretching back over the last 50 years. Chain is heralded as the originators of ‘Oz Blues’, with a 48 year history since their inception in 1968. These fantastic artists are the first and only blues band in the world to have a number one single on Australian charts with their song “Black’n’Blue”, as well as boasting a number two with their song “Judgement”.

You may best remember them for their single “I remember when I was young” which also reached number one in the 80’s. This icon of the genre and Australian music in general have continued to create fantastic music, with new material that retains the earthy sounds of the 70’s, with some incredible insights and musicality you’d expect from such a long career in the blues game. Such an opportunity to see some of the best blues artists to ever come out of Australia surely cannot be missed.

The festival offers free camping, with space to set yourself up, or the opportunity to rent pre-set campsites for the duration of the festival – all in an incredible location. It truly is a beautiful spot, in a grassy plane, nestled within a natural mountainous amphitheatre surrounded by bunya pines, cedar trees, and of course, that incredible night sky. This deep into the Hinterland, far from the big smoke, you really cannot fathom just how many stars fill that inky black night sky. As far amenities, communal bathrooms including showering facilities are available, as well as clean, free drinking water located close to all camping sites, with food markets offering incredible food, including tasty meals for all tastes for just $10-$15.
