The Mitchell Creek Rock’n’Blues Festival returns once again this year, from the 19th till the 22nd of September, and the line up is nothing short of historic. This premier music festival is hosted on 100 acres of private property in the Noosa Hinterland’s breathtaking Mary Valley region, right here on the Sunshine Coast. With some 150+ artists on offer this year, with two non-stop, alternating stages this is an experience not to be missed for the true Rock, Blues, and Roots music fans amongst us. In addition to the fantastic line up of talented artists this year, there is set to be an incredible offering of a multi-cultural feast to keep you fuelled up and ready to rock.

The list of headliners acts from past and present to send you into a time warp, again. The name that sticks out the most for me, has to be Mungo Jerry – the artist behind 1970’s ‘In The Summer Time’. A global smash hit that sold over six million copies in the first six months and is thought to now boast an incredible 30 million units sold – securing itself as the most played summer song of all time. For another hit of nostalgia, although a little more current compared to the last, is The Badloves. In 1993 The Badloves released their debut album “Get On Board” – earning them three ARIA awards including best new talent and Breakthrough Artist of the year. Something a little different, The Soul Men will also be featured this year. For the younger readers amongst you, a long time ago there was an act known as ‘The Blues Brothers’ – a pair of comedians who wanted to bring laughter and the blues to the mainstream. The resulting cult classic movies and countless performances across TV and stage have inspired a vast variety of copy-cats and tribute acts, some of which become an act all of their own. The Soul Men are just such an act – a ten piece act of musicians and vocalists with a sense of humour that has distilled the spirit of the Blue Brothers to bring you an unmissable and unforgettable show filled with energy, passion, the blues, laughter and tears.

The festival offers free camping, with space to set yourself up, or the opportunity to rent pre-set campsites for the duration of the festival – all in an incredible location. It truly is a beautiful spot, in a grassy plane, nestled within a natural mountainous amphitheatre surrounded by bunya pines, cedar trees, and of course, that incredible night sky. This deep into the Hinterland, far from the big smoke, you really cannot fathom just how many stars fill that inky black night sky. As far amenities, communal bathrooms including showering facilities are available, as well as clean, free drinking water located close to all camping sites, with food markets offering incredible food, including tasty meals for all tastes for just $10-$15.
