New York, Milan, and the Sunshine Coast – Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival
The Sunshine Coast is growing up, little by little. Soon we’ll have a brand new CBD right here in Maroochydore, with plenty more efforts to come in an attempt to realise the goal of making the Sunshine Coast another popular Australian international cultural, business and holiday destination. Part of the efforts includes; supporting events that already put our name on the map on the international scale.
The 10th annual Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival will once again be held this year in Caloundra – the only established premier, and internationally recognised fashion event in Queensland. It is considered one of Australia’s most prestigious events on the international fashion calendar. The show endeavours to present talented emerging and established local and national labels, and a host of international design talent. VIP’s, celebrities, media and the public experience a glittering weekend of fashion, encompassing couture, ready to wear, swimwear, and ethical design. The event’s organisers have said their visit is to remain committed long term to great design, loyal relationships, and to showcasing the elite of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, and around the globe.
The festival itself has many events contained within it’s own calendar, beginning with a very exclusive, “invite only”, Blogger luncheon. In addition there is also a Myer Miss Shop Styling event for young girls and their mum’s who need help finding their style and dressing to fit their shape – an event all about positive self image and fun.
On Friday, October 20th the big industry events will kick off, with the Sunshine Coast Design Awards and Hall of Fame. This event is all about recognising the designers behind the labels – specifically those who began their works right here on the Sunshine Coast, a celebration of local talent. On the 21st of October the Event Centre Caloundra will host a Fashion Industry Q&A to help young aspiring designers break into the field with the help of an expert panel yet to be announced. Also on the 21st of October we have the main event. The Catwalk Shows and Trade Lounge. This is what all the international fashion icons will be flying in for, to see local and international talents showcased side by side on the catwalk, including big name magazine editors and columnists, fashion bloggers, celebrities and more. Included in the event, the Sunshine Coast Style Awards will be presenting the ‘Best Dressed List’ – celebrating Sunshine Coast residents with the most fantastic sense of personal style, as chosen by 5 independent style ‘stalkers’ from a list of nominated fashionistas.
Ticket prices for the Catwalk event range from $65 – $200 for the full VIP experience, including a front row seat, red carpet arrivals, shopping from the Catwalk and much more. In addition, tickets to both the Sustainable and Ethical Q&A and the Fashion Industry Q&A are still available as well.
For more information on the associated events, as well as tickets and pricing visit the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival Website – and I’ll see you on the Catwalk.
